In this workshop, students will work with a 24” inch figure or bust and explore ideas of symbolism and gestural expression in consideration of the body as a vessel. We will use color as a tool for conveying emotion and form. On day one we will construct the torso, arms, and head, and day two will focus on joining all components and fine tuning the work. This class is suitable for those with prior clay working experience and the ability to form slabs, join forms, and knowledge of basic clay working rules. Stacey Johnson is currently Director of Ceramic Programming at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art. She received a BA from Loyola University, and an MFA in Ceramic Sculpture from the University of Georgia. Stacey has held teaching positions in Athens, GA, San Francisco, CA, and Heidelberg, Germany. She exhibits her work throughout the United States.
