Led by ceramic artist Taylor Robenalt, this workshop will focus on components of the human figure and demonstrate the intricacies of constructing flora and fauna. Students will focus on technical components within their work, including how to achieve crisp lines and clean, tight surfaces by using simple tools. Taylor will personally meet with each student and aide in exploration of skills and new ideas, concluding with an informal critique at the end of the workshop. Get excited for a weekend filled with information about clay with a porcelain pro! Taylor has provided a recommended tool list, which will be provided to students prior to October 6, and attendees will be allowed to sample tools and purchase them at the workshop. All clay, firing, and instruction are included in the workshop. Lunch included. Ms. Robenalt received a BFA in bronze casting and stone carving from Southern Methodist University. She then discovered her love for ceramics and received an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Georgia in 2011. Taylor has held teaching positions at the State College of Florida, Auburn University, and Columbus State University. Ms. Robenalt was a long-term artist resident at Odyssey Clayworks and has held short term residencies at Watershed and Penland. Currently, Taylor is working in Sarasota, Florida at her home studio and teaching ceramics. This workshop is approved for 1.4 CEU hours for a fee of $15.
