Mark earned his BFA from Auburn University in 1991 and his MFA from The University of Alabama in 1997. From 1997 to 2002, Rigsby was the resident potter at Kentucky Art Center, a non-profit art organization in Northport, AL. There he produced wheel thrown and hand constructed utilitarian pottery and sculptural ceramics, and taught community pottery classes to adults and children. While at Kentucky, Rigsby developed and conducted workshops for several visual arts community outreach programs. One of the most popular workshops he developed was Face Jugs for Little Folks. While not a folk potter or traditional face jug maker himself, Rigsby felt that the face jug workshop would serve as a perfect way to teach people about the art of traditional folk pottery, through a fun hands-on pottery experience. Over the years he has conducted face jug workshops with hundreds of children and adults.
