About Us

Dr. Jessie Fawer just opened her private optometry practice in Pass Christian. She previously worked alongside ophthalmologists in Slidell for 7 years, where she found her passion for serving families. She provides routine and medical eye exams to patients 6 months and older in the convenient clinic adjacent to the Walmart Vision Center. She enjoys seeing kids, fitting conventional and specialty contact lenses, as well as providing emergency eye care. Dr. Fawer can also manage chronic ocular disease, such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration.
Prior to opening, Dr. Fawer realized that even with vision and/or medical insurance, most patients still paid over $40 co-pays the day of the exam, and still received bills after insurance did not cover the full service. Patients were getting frustrated with costs that didn't make sense. That's why Dr. Fawer chose to use a direct pay approach, cutting out insurance companies and allowing her to set affordable prices for her services. Even if you have insurance, an invoice can be printed to allow patients to file themselves to get a potential reimbursement from their insurance company (given the patient has out-of-network benefits). By not taking insurance, Dr. Fawer is free to treat and manage patients in a way that puts the patient and their family first, and allows for more time with each patient.
