    Job Summary

    Provide general management, coordination and administrative support of activities of Coast Young Professionals (CYP) in support of the mission of the organization to develop young leaders on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The CYP Director will recruit and retain current and potential members to Coast Young Professionals and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
     
    Serve as administrative support for Leadership Gulf Coast (LGC). The LGC Liaison will work to support the mission of the organization and to develop a productive     network of exemplary and diverse leaders in the business, government and community sectors who are capable of addressing the critical challenges facing the Mississippi Gulf Coast region.
     

    Job Emphasis

    Act as a representative of the CYP Board of Directors in executing and communicating board policy while successfully implementing the program of work. Understand and work in tandem with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. to ensure coordination and collaboration of organizations                and programming.
     
    Serve as administrative support of the program of work of the Leadership Gulf Coast working with Board of Trustees, class members, alumni, and program volunteers.
     
    Evaluation

    Annual performance evaluation is administered by the CEO of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. with input from the leadership of Coast Young Professionals and Leadership Gulf Coast.
     

    Administration

    • Provide, execute and oversee efficient administrative support, distribution of information and general guidance for volunteers of Coast Young Professionals, Leadership Gulf Coast and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
    • Work in tandem with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s team members, CYP and LGC boards to research, implement and execute program of work to include financial stability and oversight.
    • Responsible for the understanding, management, communications and development of finances and financial reporting for CYP and LGC in conjunction with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber ofCommerce Inc.’s Finance Director, the board(s) Treasurer and the CEO. Provide assistance in developing the annual budgets and ensure the organizations are operating within parameters set by the Board.
    • Provide organizational support, recordkeeping and direction necessary to ensure the success of the programs of Coast Young Professionals and Leadership Gulf Coast as well as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. as directed.
    • Provide appropriate volunteer recruitment, retention, motivation, management and development for Coast Young Professionals and Leadership Gulf Coast.
    • Communicate in a timely, efficient manner to both CYP and LGC’s boards, chamber CEO and staff. Ensure all are informed and up-to-date on important issues.
    • Assist in day-to-day office execution; filing, organizing, database entry, invoicing, answering phones/inquiries, greet visitors, registration for programs of work throughout Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
     

    Membership Services

    • Serve as an expert, information source, and general resource to CYP members regarding membership, benefits, value, sponsorships, finances and general information pertaining to the organization. Communicate and provide assistance to ensure a high level of member satisfaction for Coast Young Professionals.
    • Serve as an expert, information source, and general resource to LGC participants, alumni, volunteers and board member regarding programming, service, value, finances and general information pertaining to the organization. Communicate and provide assistance to ensure a high level of satisfaction for Leadership Gulf Coast.
    • Maintain personal contacts and presence within the local community to stay abreast of community, government and economic issues while informing and educating appropriate parties of CYP and LGC’s efforts and programming.
    • Assess CYP membership needs and interests in order to research, develop and implement in the programs that meet membership/stakeholder needs for Coast Young Professionals.
    • Assess LGC class, board, volunteers and alumni’s needs and interests in order to research, develop and implement programs that meet membership/stakeholder needs for Leadership Gulf Coast.
    • Present a professional image in representing the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and all its divisions at all times.
    • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other like agencies and organizations across the  Gulf South and throughout Mississippi.
    • Provide appropriate assistance to community groups as approved by the Boards or CEO. 
     

    Membership Development & Sales

    • Actively market the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. with specific focus on CYP and LGC to the community.
    • Recruit, promote and retain new/existing members for Coast Young Professionals and Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
     

    Program of Work

    • Work directly with chair of each committee for CYP in setting direction, goals and determining annual program of work.
    • Attend, advise and record all committee, taskforce and board meetings for CYP and LGC.
    • Work directly with Leadership Gulf Coast program chair and day chairs to coordinate session schedules and needs fulfilling all administrative duties related to the program.
    • Actively recruit LGC class participants and alumni.
    • Monitor progress, effectiveness and feasibility of programs of work, committees and taskforces.
    • Deliver reports to CYP’s leadership, LGC’s leadership and chamber CEO regularly.
    • Deliver reports to CYP’s membership and LGC’s participants as needed.
    • Oversee that all activities coincide with the strategic plan and the mission of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and all of its divisions.
    • Ensure that all Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s governance including policies and procedures, volunteer and committee guidelines are communicated and enforced.
    • Coordinate annual planning meetings, member retention and board orientation for CYP and LGC
    • Assist the board in recruiting volunteers, committee chairs and developing potential leaders.
    • Seek sources of additional revenue to support Coast Young Professionals and Leadership Gulf Coast.
    • Seek partnerships with key community leaders and businesses to support the continuation of CYP and LGC
     
    Special Events
    • Hold accountability for developing and maintaining budgets, recruiting volunteers, execution of events and final profitability of special events sanctioned by the Board of Directors and CEO.
    • Evaluate and create new programs and events for recommendation to the Board of Directors and CEO.   Continuously stay abreast of the needs of members to deliver an effective Program of Work. 
     
    Marketing & Communications 
    • Develop, manage and update the communication plan for CYP and LGC. 
    • Create and edit videos for social media platforms and events for CYP and LGC.   
    • Maintain social media content calendar and platforms including but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram for CYP and LGC. 
    • Develop and maintain positive member relations, continually selling the Chamber, its products and seeking to motivate and influence others on the positive attributes of Chamber involvement. 
    • Take, organize and use photos and videos at program of work events and activities. 
     
    Other Duties
    • In a timely manner, complete special projects as assigned by the Boards and/or CEO, which support Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and its division’s mission, goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for keeping the staff of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc. informed of community activities, program of work of Coast Young Professionals and Leadership Gulf Coast.
    • Be the official administrative representative and spokesperson of Coast Young Professionals in all instances and situations when staff representation is appropriate and as directed by the Chair or CEO.
    • Serve as the voice of CYP when appropriate for TV, radio and other media interviews as well as presentations.   

    Education, Skills, Abilities, Experience & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business or related field preferred.
    • 2 years’ experience managing and planning programs and events.
    • Must be able to travel independently to numerous functions year-round across the MS Gulf Coast.
    • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency software and platforms including but not limited to Office Outlook, Word, Excel, Canva, Publisher, Chamber Master, social and virtual platforms.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to work after and before office hours as needed and directed by the Board or CEO.
    • Experience leading and managing strategic initiatives in subject matter.
    • Ability to interact seamlessly with executives.
    • Experience with planning large events simultaneously.
    • Board or volunteer management preferred.
    • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be a critical thinker who has excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Needs to be able to work with a team.
    • Must have and be able to demonstrate strong presentation skills.
    • Must have reliable cell phone.
    • Employee must have an automobile, valid driver’s license and liability insurance on the automobile that will insure against any loss or damage to life or property that may be caused by an automobile accident.
    • Experience with newsletter and membership programs including but not limited to  Chamber Master); social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn; and survey software including but not limited to Survey Monkey, Google Forms, Google Docs. Experience in virtual meeting software including but not limited to Zoom, Microsoft Teams.  Experience in creative software including but not limited to iMovie, Canva.
    • Must have reliable cell phone.
