    Description:

    Provide excellent customer service to all museum visitors while helping to keep the museum safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone. You will work with children and families of all ages and abilities in a fast-paced, busy environment. The museum can be loud, crowded, and full of energy, so this job requires staying calm and focused while creating a positive experience for our guests. This position reports to the Museum Manager.

    Responsibilities:

    • Be prepared to work in a busy, fast-paced environment with school groups and field trips daily.
    • Open, close, and clean exhibits and museum grounds.
    • Provide friendly customer service and handle guest needs professionally.
    • Interact with visitors by answering questions, playing in exhibits, and offering help.
    • Keep the museum clean and organized by sanitizing and resetting exhibits throughout the day.
    • Monitor exhibits and visitor activities to ensure safety and proper use.
    • Lead activities like birthday parties, story times, and educational programs.
    • Assist with admissions by selling tickets, memberships, merchandise, and handling calls.
    • Provide basic first aid (band-aids or ice packs) and complete accident reports as needed.
    • Help with educational programs, training new staff/volunteers, and general museum needs.
    • Check exhibit conditions, make minor repairs, and report issues to the Museum Manager.
    • Follow museum policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
    • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Museum Manager or Executive Director.

    Position Requirements:

    We are looking for a team member with a friendly, helpful, and positive attitude who communicates professionally with guests and colleagues, both in person and over the phone. This position requires standing and being on your feet for long periods, as well as the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Typical shifts are 9:30 AM–5:30 PM Monday through Saturday and 11:30 AM–5:30 PM on Sundays, with occasional evening and weekend events. Weekend availability and flexible scheduling are preferred. Both part-time (16–29 hours) and full-time (30–40 hours) positions are available. Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and professional communication are essential. Applicants must also follow proper cash-handling procedures and be able to identify and respond appropriately to safety concerns and various situations.
